Avid golfer (79+ rounds per year) = 3 times per year
Frequent golfer (24-78 rounds per year) = 2 times per year

The fact is grips lose traction. Many variables such as ultraviolet light, extreme temperatures (such as those occurring in automobile trunks during the summer) and, of course, normal usage contributes to grip wear and tear. Every golfer, no matter how infrequent they play, should change their grips annually. Those who golf frequently (1+ per week) should replace their grips at least twice a year.
How do I choose the right grip?
Feel and durability are two features golfers consider when choosing a grip. Kelmac utilizes two compounds that provide golfers options. All grips in the Kelmac product line are made from either natural Rubber or EPDM/Synthetic Rubber.
1. Natural Rubber - Typically all 2 piece compression molded grips are produced in part with natural rubber. These grips usually have a dull appearance as the grip surface is buffed (sanded) during the finishing stage of manufacturing. This produces a traditional feel with a very light surface abrasion.
2. EPDM (Synthetic Rubber) - Seamless grips (injection molded) are produced utilizing a synthetic rubber that can be specifically formulated to enhance tackiness and durability. These grips usually have a high sheen when new.
Once you have selected a model that instills confidence, make sure the grip is the proper size.

Are all grips universal in size?
No. Grips are typically measured referencing their installed size. That is, how big will the grip be once on a golf club shaft.
Does grip size effect performance?
Yes, using the proper size grip can improve accuracy. Having the correct size grip promotes fluid rotation allowing the hands to better square the clubface at impact. A square clubface at impact equals straighter shots. If your grip is too small your hands may rotate too fast, closing the clubface at impact and resulting in a hook. Conversely, a grip that is too big slows the hand rotation meaning the clubface will be open at impact causing a slice.
